Purpose
The purpose of Learning and Development within Anheddau is to ensure that all our staff have the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications to deliver support of the highest quality and for that support to be delivered in line with regulatory and Organisational requirements.
Anheddau is committed to continuing to raise standards of support. Effective Learning and Development is the cornerstone of this and plays a vital part in achieving this and in the achievement of our strategic goals.
Principles
Anheddau values are based on the belief that staff are the key to a quality service and that its employees are the most important asset. This is embedded in the learning opportunities available to all that enable employees to develop both in a professional and personal capacity.
Anheddau Academy's overall delivery approach to Learning and Development is based around the regulatory framework and best practice in social care and training delivery. It has been developed in order to focus the relationship between staff learning and individualised outcomes for people who use Anheddau services.
There are 3 key learning and development routes to ensure staff are trained in all aspects of their role and continue to maintain appropriate CPD beyond initial training.
That is Core/Mandatory Training, Bespoke Training and the opportunity to gain an accredited qualification as recommended by Social Care Wales in line with the National Occupational Standards.
Learner Journey
Continuous improvement is at the core of our learning policy. Each employee embarks on a journey with Anheddau which is a mixture of mandatory training, care plan based training and vocational qualifications suitable for the role. Employees are encouraged to have responsibility for their own continuous professional development (CPD) and to actively work to develop their practice in line with the Social Care Wales Code of Professional Practice for Social Care Workers.
Accredited Vocational Qualifications
Anheddau recognises the value of vocationally related qualifications in supporting workforce development and has its own Accreditation Centre.
The Anheddau Qualifications Assessment Centre is accredited by the City & Guilds/WJEC Awarding Organisation. It is responsible for assessments leading to the accreditation of workplace skills and knowledge and has its own qualified team of assessors and verifiers.
This ensures employees are supported in house by qualified assessors and trainers to be ready for initial registration with Social Care Wales. As the learner journey develops the centre also supports staff with acquiring the required qualificaitons and learning opportunities to support re-registration.
Learning & Development in Anheddau is designed to be compliant with regulators but strongly interlinked with the needs of the supported individuals.
Our In House Respect Team is trained and accredited by NAViGO and have all signed up to the Restrained Reduction Network Pledge.
